Yixiang is a small app with one ritual: you hold a question, photograph what is in front of you, and receive a hexagram card and a reading. This policy explains what that takes from you and what happens to it. Yixiang is published by Shanghai Zhicheng Yuanjian Information Technology Co., Ltd. (“we”). Questions about privacy: support@fengshuisnap.com.
What we collect
- Photos you take or choose for a cast. Our server resizes each photo and strips its metadata — including any location — before storing it.
- Questions you write down in “Write it down” mode. In “Hold it in mind” mode nothing is written, so nothing is sent.
- Readings we generate for you, and the follow-up questions you tap.
- An anonymous account. On first launch the app creates a random identifier so your journal and collection stay with you. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Basic service logs — times, errors, request sizes — kept to run and secure the service.
We do not use advertising, ad identifiers, or third-party analytics or tracking tools, and we do not access your contacts or precise location.
How we use it
- To cast your hexagram and write its reading.
- To show your past casts in your journal and collection.
- To keep the service working and safe — for example, a question that suggests someone may be in danger receives help resources instead of a reading.
AI processing
To read a photo and write a reading, your photo and (if you wrote one) your question are processed by AI models running in Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service. Microsoft processes this data on our behalf; under its terms, it is not used to train AI models. The hexagram, its judgement and its lines come from our own engine and the classic text, not from the AI.
Where it is stored
Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure in the East Asia (Hong Kong) region, in private storage. It travels over encrypted connections, and photos are served only through short-lived signed links.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. When you share a card, the card never includes your question; your photo appears only if you choose to include it. Anyone with a share link can see that card. Apart from Microsoft as our hosting and AI provider, we disclose data only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
Your casts are kept until you delete them. In the app you can delete a single cast (with its photo) or your whole account and every record in it, from Settings. Deleted data is removed from our live systems at once and disappears from backups within 7 days.
Children
Yixiang is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used it, contact us and we will delete the data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example under the GDPR, Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance or Taiwan’s Personal Data Protection Act — you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, or to object to its processing. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, write to support@fengshuisnap.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
