How does a photo become a hexagram?
A vision model describes two things: what you photographed and the place it sits. Each is matched to one of the eight trigrams by the trigrams’ traditional associations — stillness is Mountain, depth and wet is Water, brightness is Fire. The thing gives the upper trigram, the place the lower. This follows Plum Blossom numerology, which cast hexagrams from whatever was in view.
What’s the difference between “Hold it in mind” and “Write it down”?
Hold it in mind: you don’t type anything. You get the card, the judgement and a plain explanation of the hexagram; the same hexagram always gets the same words. Write it down: you type your question first, and the reading speaks to that question. You can then tap follow-up questions.
I asked again and got the same card.
That is on purpose. The judgement of Hexagram IV says the first asking is answered, and asking again and again is not. The same question within 24 hours brings back the same card.
Why can’t I type my own follow-up questions?
Follow-ups are offered as three questions you can tap, so the conversation stays with the card instead of drifting away from it.
Is this fortune-telling?
No. Yixiang is a cultural and reflective tool: a way of looking at a question through an old book. It does not predict, and it won’t tell you something is lucky or unlucky. For health, legal or financial decisions, please talk to a qualified professional.
How do I delete a reading, or everything?
Open the reading and choose Delete to remove it with its photo. To remove everything, go to Settings → Delete my account and all records. Deletion cannot be undone.
Which languages are supported?
English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. The app follows your iPhone’s language. On English cards the back carries James Legge’s 1882 translation of the Great Image.
Is there an Android version?
Yixiang is launching on iPhone first. Android will follow.
